Health and Safety Management
It is important that Health and Safety is managed and viewed in the same category as any other aspect of management.
A company has the following responsibilities:
Moral: To its employees and anyone who could be affected by their actions.
Legal: Health and Safety is controlled by statutory legislation.
Financial: To itself, by a potential increase in profits through less compensation claims.
Failure to manage Health and Safety effectively can result in accidents occurring, people suffering injuries, which could lead to compensation claims, increased insurance premiums and in the worst scenario a company or organisation being forced to shut down.
A company or organisation has a legal obligation to manage the health and safety of its employees. This obligation also extends to the health and safety of any subcontractors they may employ, and the health and safety of anyone, including the general public, who may be affected by the actions of the company.
I assist companies and organisations to achieve this by offering the following services:
Producing and Writing a Health and Safety Policy
It is a legal requirement, that a company, employing 5 or more personnel, including directors, must have a written Health and Safety Policy and that policy must be displayed. This policy will state the objectives of the company, or organisation, with regards to Health and Safety.
The advantage of having such a policy is that it focuses the company on what it is aiming to achieve. It allows the company to control their health and safety, rather than health and safety, through accidents and near misses, controlling the company or organisation.
Managing Health and Safety
While it is a legal requirement to have a health and safety policy; it is also a legal requirement to show how a company actually achieves the objectives it has outlined in the policy.
The end result for a company or organisation can only be positive with:
• Increased profits
• A happier work force
• Increased efficiency
• A good reputation
• Contractor of choice which will result in more orders
• An employer of choice

The level of service Martin has provided has been excellent. He has managed our Health & Safety requirements, and acted as our "Competent Person" since we opened in late 2005.
